August Wichita-Area Home Sales Figures

Wichita Area Association of REALTORS® and the South Central Kansas MLS releases the August Wichita area home sales figures.

Existing home sales decreased 0.1% in August according to new figures released by the South Central Kansas MLS. Existing homes sales in August totaled 750, down from 751 units in July 2009. The median sales price of existing homes in August decreased 3.4% on a year over year basis.

New home sales increased in August to 101 units, which represents a 5.2% increase compared to July 2009. The August median sale price of new homes decreased to $200,000 from $207,008 in July 2009.

Wichita Home Sales Fall 13% in August

Wichita home sales were down 13 percent during August, according to figures released Monday by the Wichita Area Association of Realtors.

A total of 851 homes sold during the month, down from 978 from the previous August.

Is Air Duct Cleaning Worth It?

Linda Wetzel of Shaker Heights, Ohio, says she was skeptical about air duct cleaning until a friend told her it had improved her allergies. “I figured common sense said, if there’s dust on the table, there has to be dust in the vents,” Wetzel says.

After hiring a highly rated cleaner she found on Angie's List, Wetzel was very pleased with the results. She says she noticed an immediate improvement in air quality - everyone in the house suffered fewer allergies afterward - and the entire HVAC system worked more efficiently.
