Existing home sales decreased 31.4% last month according to the December figures released by the South Central Kansas MLS. Existing homes sales in December totaled 487, down from 710 units in November 2009. The median sales price of existing homes in December increased 4.3% on a year over year basis.
New home sales decreased in December to 73 units, which represents a 19.8% decrease compared to November 2009. The December median sale price of new homes increased to $185,000 from $166,240 in November 2009.
Existing home inventory this month was down 3.3% with 3,141 homes in inventory compared to 3,247 last month. The existing home inventory this month is 9.9% higher than it was a year ago when the existing home inventory was 2,859.
